A 6 acre lake on the outskirts of Leighton Buzzard, which is owned by LBAC. The lake is surrounded by trees and has discrete, private swims. Cars can be parked close to swims on the field side of the lake, but please note all swims have a slope or steps to access negotiate to get to the waters edge.
After a number of years of organisation, an otter fence was installed in the spring of 2022. This took the syndicate members, committee members and other volunteers over twelve weeks to prepare the site for the fence installation, but it was worth the effort. Each access gate has a combination padlock and chain to ensure only members can access the lake. The code is the same as the code in the membership book. Please help the club protect the stocks in the lake by closing and locking the gates at all times.
Failure to close and lock the gates will result in your membership being withdrawn.
The lake is of variable depth up to 13 feet. Two gates with access codes and an otter fence make the lake very secure for our members. Having been restocked since 2021 with over 75 VS Fisheries carp between 9lb and 16lb, the lake has undergone somewhat of a transformation. Once renowned for being a very tough nut to crack, the stockies have made catching much easier. It's by no means a runs water though, but with a bit of effort fish can now be caught all through the year, even in the depths of winter. Due to predation, we believe there is only around 15 of the original stock left, topped by a 42lb previously stocked simmo strain mirror.
The lake also contains catfish to 64lb. There are plenty of catfish in the 30lb to 50lb range for our members to catch. Multiple catches, including 50lb fish are common. There are also bream to 12lb present plus roach, perch and pike.
During the summer months the weed growth can be overwhelming, largely confined to the shallow water near the edges. We add a weed suppressant dye every year to ensure the lake is free of weed in the deeper areas. Anglers have found a rake on a rope easily removes the weed to be found in the shallow areas.
Night fishing is allowed for night syndicate members only between 1 April and 30 November. There is a waiting list in place to join the syndicate, to be added to the list simply send an email to the club email address. Needless to say the waiting list is slow moving, so patience is essential.
Please ensure you are packed away and off the lake by the stated time. The times can be found in your membership book or can be viewed and downloaded below.
