Stocking
We have continued our stocking of Tiddenfoot, with another 15 carp between 9lb and 15lb in November 2023. This is in addition to the 20 carp stocked in November 2022, which ranged from 10lb to 17lb. Details of the stockings can be found on our YouTube channel and, with links here. In December 2021, 20 new VS Fisheries mirror carp were stocked, from 10lb to 16lb. We will be continuing to introduce new carp each year as part of our stocking programme, with a further VS Fisheries stocking in the winter of 2024/25. Tiddenfoot is already one the the top specimen waters in the area, if not the whole country. With four different forty pound carp, with The Italian over 46lb, and many 20lb and 30lb fish, the night pass offers excellent value. That is without reminding our anglers that Tiddenfoot is one of the top catfish waters in the country with fish to over 90lb, probably larger. There are good stocks of fish in the 40lb to 70lb range. Just to add the icing to the cake the lake offers our anglers the opportunity to catch quality tench to 13lb and bream to 16lb.

Otter fence
Recently an otter fence has been installed to protect our fish stocks from predation. The syndicate and a number of other helpers have worked incredibly hard to prepare the site for the contractor to install the fence. This included clearing a path around the lake for the fence to be sited. The fence has a number of gates installed for members to access swims.
It is IMPORTANT that these gates are closed and locked.
If any member leaves a gate open or does not lock the gate after settling into a swim then we will remove membership. There is no point in installing an otter fence if gates are left open. Our fish stocks must be protected. Lock codes will be the same as the main gate access code.
Protect your fish - Always close and lock the otter gates.
In an ideal world we would fence all our lakes, but with many of them having individual landlords it requires their permission, which we are working on!
May 2024 - The lake is starting warm up, despite all the extra water. It is starting to produce multiple carp captures to our members. This week alone one angler caught 6 carp in a short day session, and had fish the previous week to 19lb. The majority of fish caught are carp, mainly because anglers are predominantly targeting them. It's not just about the carp though, some anglers have caught multiple silver fish during their sessions, with roach, skimmers and bream to 3lb, mostly on float fished tactics with maggots. Perch to over 4lb have been caught using drop shot methods.
Most tactics will work, a standard boilie and PVA freebies setup, pop ups, method feeder, quiver tip, all catch carp on this prolific water. To keep the carp in front of you, it's worth putting out a couple of KG's of bait and topping it up regularly. We're finding the carp home in on quality baits such as boilies and pellets, especially as the water warms up. It is important to read the water (and the fish) in front of you though, and adjust your baiting and tactics accordingly, which can make a big difference to a session.
Fish stocks
Since taking over the fishing rights we have introduced nearly 1900 new carp into Astral lake. With approximately 300 original carp we expect the lake to become a prolific water for carp anglers. Our members who prefer other species will be pleased to know that tench, crucian carp, barbel and bream have been added to the fish stocks. Over 20,000 small roach and a few perch were also added in 2021.
In November 2021, we stocked 10 new carp from 10lb to 12lb, also 30 C3 carp. These fish will add to the impressive carp stocks. The fish were supplied by VS Fisheries. They are fast growing and beautifully patterned.
In February 2022 a mixed stocking of 200, 6 to 10 inch roach, 100 tench, 100 8 inch bream and 100 barbel from Mainstream Fisheries were introduced to the lake. All are quality fish, and we hope they will grow to provide excellent fishing for our members. The roach are of breeding age, very good quality beautiful silver and red fish. We hope the barbel will thrive in the rich Astral water and provide, in the future, some excellent sport.
